Our Process

Estimate / Quote Accepted

Our estimate / quote are based on the concept plans provided, if any detail changes during the consent process, pricing will need to be revised to align with the stamped plans. At this stage we check if you have an account with us, if not we do require you to fill in a credit application before moving further.

Request A Date

This can be done with your sales consultant or with the scheduler. All dates are estimates, this allows us to work towards this date. Once we receive all the required documentation from you, we can give you a more accurate timeline.

The Scheduler Contacts You

We will contact you via email to check and gather information about your job, along with providing you forms and information about our process.

Provide Stamped Plans & Truck Location

If you haven't yet provided, we do require stamped plans to base Metras shop drawing on. We require all documentation a minimum of 13 working days before the job leaving date. We also require a truck location that relates to how the panels are stacked and the order they are stood, this is required to finish programming.

Your Drawing Gets Detailed

We send your stamped plans away to get detailed, the drafters need about five working days. We also send your stamped plans back to our sales team to check nothing has changed from when we quoted the job.

Signing Off The Design

We send you the Metra shop drawings for you to sign off, you will also get sent an acknowledgement statement that includes information about sign off.

Documentation & Programming

Programming and documentation can take two working days. We will contact you to confirm the panel leaving our factory date, along with an estimated cutting date.

Cutting Your Panels

We try to cut your panels at a minimum of two days before the leaving date to pre-empt any delays. Once your panels are cut, we can not move the panel leaving date as we have very limited storage space, collection or delivery is required.

Standing / Delivery / Collection

The day has come where you receive your panels, you will receive these with a set of Metra shop drawings, load out form and site safety form.

  • The board is manufactured from reconstituted (recycled) New Zealand plantation pine wood fibre, bonded together with moisture resistant (MR) resins and waxes.
  • The blended fibres are compressed under heat to form a structurally strong and moisture-resistant medium-density particleboard called "Superfine LB".
  • Boards are then passed through a series of high-speed drum sanders that finish the surfaces to its Superfine finish on each face. Our re-manufacturing plant then applies a paint application to seal the panel further.

  • Metra Construction Panels can be installed onto either a concrete or timber framed floor structure.
  • The Metra Construction Panel System must be designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the approved BRANZ appraisal.
  • It will meet the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) Clause B1 Structure – Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. The Metra Construction Panel System meets the requirements for loads arising from self-weight, imposed gravity loads, earthquake, snow and wind i.e. B1.3.3(a), (b), (f), (g) and (h).
  • The Metra Construction Panel System also meets the 50-year durability requirement of the NZ Building Code (subject to conditions).

The Metra Construction Panels and System can be used for a 2.7m stud height, and a wall height of 3m can be achieved without additional engineering design.

  • Our panels are moisture resistant once coated with our specially formulated paint application. All cut or exposed edges are painted to give protection from water ingress.
  • BRANZ Appraised to cope with up to 28 days of weather exposure while roofing and cladding is completed. (Metra Panel recommends roofing to be completed within 14 days.)

Metra Construction Panel exterior walls can achieve a thermal insulation rating of R2.3 to R6.0.

  • As per the BRANZ Appraisal 364, 'Metra Wall, Floor and Ceiling panels will not present a health hazard to people'. Results of a formaldehyde monitoring investigation show that the air concentration of formaldehyde in a number of finished houses is below the WHO guideline for 'no concern', which is 0.05ppm.
  • If designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of the BRANZ Appraisal, the Metra Wall and Ceiling panels and connections will meet the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials - Performance F2.3.1.

  • The product cost is similar to traditional material, but there can be a large amount of time saved, which in turn saves on cost.
  • The panels are a large size, with a surface that offers the opportunity to gain a level 5 finish – reducing plastering/stopping costs.
  • Speed of build, putting up walls and ceiling and reduction of weather delays has broader cost advantages across the whole project.
  • 7.5% extra floor space translates into additional cost savings compared to a traditional build, or the ability to use the extra space.

  • 36mm wall panels 7350x2450, weighs 420kg
  • 25mm ceiling panels 7350x2450, weighs 290kg
  • 25mm flooring panels 7350x2450, weighs 290kg
  • 18mm wall panels 7350x2450, weighs 214kg
